About Shawn
Mr. Egan brings over 25 years of institutional and single-family office investment experience to the Company. Mr. Egan shares responsibility for the development of corporate, investment and capitalization strategies. Mr. Egan is a member of the Investment Committee of the Gary Harbor Government Income REIT. In addition, Mr. Egan leads and manages Gray Harbor Capital’s friends and family portfolio of non-government related investment opportunities.
During his career, Mr. Egan has directly managed over $2.5 Billion in single-family office assets in roles as Chief Investment Officer, Director of Investments, and Director of Research.
Mr. Egan began managing single-family office portfolios in 2004. He was an early adopter of alternative investment strategies and has extensive experience in hedge funds, real estate, private credit, private equity, venture capital and other non-traditional investments. His track record includes opportunistic investments such as Paulson Credit Fund I (>800%+ net IRR), Lee Daniels The Butler (grossing over $177 million worldwide), various high-multiple early venture takeouts, hedge fund seeds, real estate development and land banking, and managing thematic commodity strategies. Mr. Egan has been recognized for delivering outstanding risk-adjusted returns during his career, including achieving top decile performance during the financial crisis of 2008. Additionally, Mr. Egan was named to Trusted Insight’s list of the Top 30 Family Office Rising Stars.
From 2000 to 2004, Mr. Egan worked for Deloitte & Touche Investment Advisors. In his role as Director of Research, he built Deloitte’s proprietary investment research program and led a team of investment analysts located across the country. At age 30, he was promoted to Chief Investment Officer and oversaw Deloitte’s entire $4 billion investment platform and client-base.
Additionally, Mr. Egan has held investment positions at Aeltus Investment Management, Aetna, Inc., and Merrill Lynch.
Mr. Egan holds a B.S. degree from Fairfield University, an MBA degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, is a CFA® Charterholder, and holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities licenses.
